Recruitment of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in Botanical Survey of India.

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for appointment of Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) in Botanical

Survey of India.

Number of Positions: 33 (Thirty Three)

Place of Work: Any of the Regional Centres/Offices of BSI at Itanagar, Shillong, Gangtok, Howrah, Kolkata, Allahabad,  Noida,  Dehradun,  Jodhpur,  Pune,  Hyderabad,  Port  Blair,  Coimbatore,  Solan.  Appointed  Junior Research Fellows may be shifted from his/her initial working place to another place of work, if necessary.

Fellowship  Amount:  First two  years  ₹ 31,000 p.m. (Consolidated) and Third  year  onwards ₹ 35,000 p.m. (consolidated). HRA will be given as per rules. Junior Research Fellowship in BSI is purely temporary. Mere appointment  as  Junior  Research  Fellow  doesn’t  confer  any right,  implicit  or  explicit,  for  consideration  for regularization or absorption in BSI as an employee.

Duration of Fellowship (2+1+2 years): The Junior Research Fellows will be appointed initially for 2 years and, after assessment of the work done in first two years and if found suitable, may be appointed for another 1 year as Senior Research Fellows or may be terminated if work not found satisfactory. SRF is extendable for 2 more years depending upon satisfactory performance of the work allotted.

Essential Qualification: At the time of submitting the application the applicant should possess a minimum 55 %

in Mater’s degree in Botany awarded by a UGC recognized University.

Desirable Qualification: M. Sc. degree in Plant Taxonomy or Plant-systematics of any group of plants & with working knowledge in computer. Person with good analytical ability and competent in technical writing skills will be given preference. NET (CSIR-JRF) qualified candidates are exempted from writing test; however, they have to fill the form online with choice of regional centres and if selected need to appear for an interview.

Age Limit: The upper age limit for applying for the award of JRF shall be 28 years as on last date of receipt of the application form, which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes/  Physically Handicapped and female applicants whereas 3 years in case of OBCs (Non-creamy layer candidates).

Examination Fees: The requisite examination fees of ₹ 400/- (₹ 200/- for OBC applicants, ₹ 100/- for SC/ST/PH applicants) to be paid through Bharatkosh website (https://bharatkosh.gov.in/) only. The examination fee is non- refundable. Instruction for payment is given in Annexure I.

How to apply: Interested candidates are requested to register to submit their online application through the link given at the website  www.bsijrfrecruitment.com. The duly self-attested photocopy of school leaving certificate need to be uploaded alongwith the online application as a proof of age. All other credential i.e. Mark sheet, Degree SC/ST/OBC/PH certificate etc. need to be made available for verification during the interview. Before submitting the online application form, the candidates need to download an application form (MS word file) as attached. The filled up application form then to be uploaded as an attachment for the successful submission of online form. Incomplete/partially filled application would not be accepted. Also, the candidate is liable to be rejected if any mismatch is noticed (before/after interview) in details regarding age, qualification, branch and percentage of marks or non-fulfillment of any of the above criteria. The last date of the submission of the application will be 30 days from the date of publication of the above advertisement in the Employment News. 

General Conditions:

1. The written examination will be conducted on physical mode consisting of one paper (MCQ) in all the Regional  Centres  of  BSI.  The time  duration  of  the  written  test  will  be  3  hours.  The  date  of  the examination will be informed to all the candidates in advance. Candidates are also advised to visit the website regularly.

2.  The shortlisted candidates will be called for interview in Kolkata/Howrah or in five regional centres, i.e.

Central National Herbarium (Howrah), Eastern Regional Centre (Shillong), Western Regional Centre (Pune), Southern Regional Centre (Coimbatore) and Northern Regional Centre (Dehradun) depending upon  the number  of candidate opted for  a particular  centre.  However, if number  of candidate in a particular regional centre is low, then they may be shifted to another nearby regional centre.

3. The short listed candidates will be informed for the date and time of the interview. Candidates need to make their own arrangements for stay (if required) and will not be entitled for any travelling allowance.

4. Candidates are requested to ensure their eligibility with respect to age, discipline, qualification etc. and  then proceed for online registration.

5. Candidates are requested to fill up correct details against all the fields alongwith uploading of scanned copies of all the mandatory documents as asked in the online application.

6. The candidates are required to reach the examination centre at least one hour before the scheduled time of the examination. Late comers will not be entertained.

7.    items/mobile    phones/pen    drive/laptop/CDs    are    strictly    prohibited    inside    the campus/examination hall.

8. Candidates  should  be  in  possession  of  a  copy  of  their  online  submitted  application  form  and  a

Government issued ID Card (Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License etc.) during written examination.

9. Candidates are also possess all certificates/documents/testimonials in original alongwith a set of self- attested copies of the same during interview for verification/retention.

10. Candidates working in Govt./Public Sector/Autonomous bodies should bring “No Objection Certificate”

from the concerned authority at the time of interview.

11. Candidate selected for JRFs will be allowed to register for regular Ph.D. programmes, provided they fulfil the eligibility criteria of the concerned university.

12. Candidates selected in this programme are expected to travel extensively in various parts of country (including remote and inaccessible localities) and liable to work in any regional centre of BSI during the tenure.

13. No correspondence  will be entertained  either  in regard to the call for  written  test/interview and/or selection. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification. BSI reserve the right not to fill any position, if it so decides.
